Croteaux Vineyards (Southold)
A unique differentiator about Croteaux is that it produces only rosé wines, and it’s the only winery in the United States to do so, according to its website. So if you have an appreciation for exceptional rosés that are fun to drink and full of distinct flavor, this is a must-stop on your North Fork wine tour. Croteaux’s credo is combining “the traditional tastes of southern France with the distinct seaside style and agrarian history of the North Fork.”

Lenz Winery (Peconic )
Founded in 1978, Lenz is one of the oldest and most established wineries on Long Island. The winery has been operated by Peter & Deborah Carroll since 1988, back when there were fewer than 10 established wineries in the area. This experience translates into some of the best wines produced in the United States, made with time-honored traditions and the expertise of Lenz’s winemaking team. The rustic tasting room is situated inside an original potato barn, while the expansive Lenz “campus” offers numerous outdoor seating options, including a courtyard, terrace and lawn.

Pindar Vineyards (Peconic )
The largest vineyard on Long Island, Pindar encompasses more than 300 scenic acres, where 20 varieties of grapes are meticulously grown and crafted into 23 varietals and proprietary blends. The vineyard has been owned and operated by the Damianos family for decades. Herodotus “Dan” Damianos, who is considered one of the original pioneers of Long Island Wine Country, founded the winery in 1979. The location features an expansive tasting room, plus an outdoor deck, pavilion and lawn with designated picnic areas.

Set in the heart of Cutchogue, Suhru Wines offers a charming tasting house situated among a somewhat residential section of the hamlet. This gives Suhru a uniquely cozy and intimate feel. It’s smaller than some of the other sprawling vineyards on this list, but also very welcoming. That’s all part of the plan according to the family that operates Suhru, whose mission is to create “easy-drinking, approachable, and food-friendly wines that complement the local environment and cuisine.”
What to know:
- Be sure to check out Wickham’s Fruit Farm across the street.
- Due to limited space, the winery does not accept groups larger than 6 people.

Meadowlark North Fork (Cutchogue)
One of the newer destinations on the North Fork wine trail, Meadowlark offers a stunning 20-acre property with limited wines produced by Macari Vineyards, another iconic winemaker of the North Fork. The property features “sweeping naturalistic gardens surrounding two modern farmhouse-inspired buildings,” including tasting rooms, outdoor decks and patio spaces that can also be used for special occasions and events.
What to know:
- The Wine Bar is a modified tasting room that offers unique selections of the Macari wine portfolio by the glass or bottle.
- Focus is on “limited wines and innovative winemaking techniques” from Macari that are available only at the Meadowlark property.

McCall Wines (Cutchogue)
Experience the rural, rustic wonder of Cutchogue at this acclaimed winery, which encompasses more than 100 acres and includes one of the largest Pinot Noir vineyards on the East Coast. McCall offers a relaxing outdoor atmosphere and the wines are considered by many to be the best on the North Fork. A trip to Macari Vineyards in Mattituck feels like you’re stepping into paradise. It’s one of the largest vineyards on Long Island – nearly 500 acres of lush vines and farmland, situated next to a modern, wood-beamed tasting room with barrel cellar. The large vineyard naturally enables Macari to produce a wide variety of wines, but also it means the views are expansive. Don’t be fooled by the unassuming name of this vineyard in Jameson. Named after both the founder Jason Damianos and the ancient Greek mythological hero, Jason’s Vineyard is one of the most established and respected wineries on Long Island. Founded in 1996, this 20-acre vineyard offers a beautiful setting for wine tastings, live music and private events. Jason’s Vineyard pioneered the dense spacing of vines that other North Fork wineries now replicate, which reduces grape yields but intensifies flavors.

Duck Walk North Fork (Southold)
Duck Walk Vineyards is one of the most well-known wineries on Long Island, in part because it’s one of the few wineries in The Hamptons. However, in 2007 Duck Walk opened a second location in Southold, bringing its acclaimed wines to the North Fork. The Southold vineyard features 30 beautiful acres of Sauvignon Blanc grape vines, a spacious tasting room and large outdoor seating area with live music on the weekends.

- Live music on Saturdays.

Corey Creek has a younger, fresher and more minimalist vibe than some of its neighboring North Fork wineries, which many visitors find refreshing.
